Hey Everyone!!
Its already close to February and I'll be having exams of my graduation in April. It has been almost 3 years since I am pursuing my graduation from Delhi University in English literature and since then People keep on asking me "Why you opted for English literature as a subject?? when you are into animation industry. " And I reply... "Why not??".
When I went to Mumbai for working for crest animation studio, I was a class 12th pass out. But I always felt the need of a graduation degree that too in fine arts. I was all surrounded by kick ass artists who always blew my mind.
So when I had a chance.. I chose to leave my job and go for graduation. Unfortunately when I came 2 Delhi, I was pretty late for applying for Fine arts. So i opted for English literature.
Though its not related to animation field at all but as i passed 1st year, I realized that Animation and English literature are related in a strange way.
In English literature I read about world's classic novels, plays and Epic poems as well. All of them have a story to convey like in epic Illiad, I read about the war that was raged on Troy by the Greeks and the best part is to look and analyse it from an open mind through more then one perspective. Not only illiad ... I read about the masters of tragedy: Shakespeare, Marlow,Charles Dickens etc. they had a story to tell and unique way to bind there readers and viewers and frankly speaking as Pixar sums it up "its all about story telling", Its not just about moving something in space but a story to convey. If there is a walk, Who is walking? why is he walking? whats his weight? why is he walking? What is he upto?? these things makes one animation differ from other. Animation is about putting life into something which does not exist and to create an illusion that this thing really exists and audience gets emotionally attached to it. In which I feel Pixar is the Master. Wall-e is an example. Wall-E and Eve were two robots but if u ask me they are the best romantic couple in the history of CG world. You feel connected with the characters. I am not an animation Master or mentor trying to teach anything. I m just a learner who is sharing what he was learned and is ready to Share .
